Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, THC

THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is one of many different cannabinoids in the Cannabis sativa plant.

When taken internally, THC is the primary psychoactive component of cannabis.

It is the substance that produces the “high” feeling associated with cannabis use.

THC is metabolized in the body, primarily in the liver, and one of the active metabolites is 11-hydroxy-THC.

Among other things, THC includes anti-inflammatory, antiemetic, psychoactive, and hallucinogenic properties. Also, the use of THC can cause side effects such as memory impairment, increased heart rate, dry mouth, and anxiety.

Many countries have prohibitions on products containing THC above a certain level.
